Allow yourself to wander back in time when miracles were natural - when running on the beach and a speck of sand sparked splendid visions; when l you dreamt of traveling to Never Never Land, believed that the Emerald City was around the coma- and you talked to imaginary friends.
In each generation we have inherited tales that have sparked our imagination and fulfilled our dreams. Remember... The good witch that gently stroked Dorothy on the head and said, "Tap your feet three times and make a wish." Dorothy clicked the heels of her red ruby slippers and whispered, "I want to go home. I want to go home. I want to go home." Remember... Peter Pan hovering above Wendy and saying, "think beautiful thoughts." So she imagined candy canes, snowy days and beautiful sunsets, and to her amazement she was lifted up to the embedded in it, moving through it, part of by Marvin Barrett, author of "Spare Days," ceiling, out the large bedroom window and flew across the moon.
Fairytales, legends and myths are filled with mystery and miracles. It is customary to read these thrilling tales to our children and stimulate their imagination and awe of life. However, after we tiptoe out the door we leave behind our childhood innocence and go back to "reality." Our hearts try to hold tight to the extraordinary stories of virgin births, parting seas, candles burning for weeks on end and ordinary humans talking to angels and gods.
Unfortunately, the stress of daily living dims our inner sight and at times blows out the light. Tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, wars, poverty and illness are headline news. Sometimes we have to thumb through many sections of the newspaper before we find a story that leaves us with inspired goose bumps. Often, without realizing we lose our reverence and faith.
The child in us has fought too many life-dragons and we put Wendy and Peter away in a vault. We forget how and why miracles happen. However, Dorothy and Wendy's story demonstrates how miracles occur in our lives. If you truly want to peek behind the starlit miracle curtain you have to be ready to enter the unknown; ready to take on what you fear the most. YOURSELF!
Dorothy traveled through Oz fighting and killing the wicked witch. Wendy battled pirates and fairies. Both young girls carried with them an ancient understanding that helped them manifest the miracle they wished for; the threefold knowledge of intention, passion, courage and belief. Creating an intention is a powerful energetic seed for miracles. Look around. Everything around you is energy. Even the dust particle floating through the air is energy. Your dog, roses in your garden, the moon, the sun, the hamburger you just ate, your curtains and you yourself are energy. All of life is a phenomenon. Physicists know that supernatural energy fields connect the material world. They know that everything down to the bottom of the germy barrel of grime consists of moving, wiggling atoms.
Physicists agree that your relationship with others and the world, how you see, feel, receive, perceive and experience life is how life will be. As you change your perceptions, turn the kaleidoscope 360 degrees; you can change what is attracted to you. Therefore your thoughts, your emotions and your beliefs are magnets. There lies the secret of miracles. Within you! In their inspirational and motivational book on universal thought, "A New Beginning," Jerry and Ester Hicks state. "Your natural state is that of well-being." Now, who was taught to believe that as a child? Well, maybe some of you were told to "think" positively as Peter instructed Wendy. Maybe you were inspired to follow your dream, as Glenda the good witch encouraged Dorothy. Our parents may have loved us, but they also wanted to protect us from catching a cold, getting hit by a car, being hurt by a friend and whatever else; thus unconsciously taught us to doubt.
The Hicks teach, "The creative life-force, or energy of the universe, flows through you and literally connects you to all that is. Through your attention, or focus of thought you draw the specifics unto you." The Hicks continue, "If you are feeling negative emotion, you are. in that moment, in the mode of attraction. Most often you are, in that moment, resisting something that you want."
Born in poverty, Abraham Lincoln became President and abolished slavery; Thomas Edison made numerous attempts until he discovered electricity; Einstein, an academic failure had a daydream that led to his theory of relativity. Traumatized by rape Maya Angelou was mute throughout her childhood and went on to become a famous author, poet and advocate for civil liberties. All mythical and religious heroes had one thing in common; they created miracles through their passion, courage and belief. These ingredients are the "life force" that the Hicks claim "flows through you and connects you, attracts you to all that is." "As you are focusing upon...and thereby attracting... that which is in harmony with that which you consider good, your inner being offers you the feeling of positive emotion as acknowledgement of your positive connection," state the Hicks. Simply put. what you focus on you attract.
That's what miracles are all about... unleashing the source of power; the life-force energy that vibrates in every cell. This takes deep concentration; willful-power and intention, focus and the release of emotions that block your belief and faith. The power of legends and myths helps you identify with the ordinary person whose heroics obtain the "big" goal.
Dorothy didn't know if Oz existed and yet she never gave up. Along the way she met the lion that had no courage, the tin man who had no heart and the straw man who didn't have a brain; together they followed the yellow brick road. Together they were triumphant and gained an audience with the wizard, who then told them that the courage, love and insight they sought, were inside of them; the wizard himself held no power; they held the power.
Miracles are ordinary. They are happening around us every minute; the birth of a baby, the earth rotating on its axis, a rainbow after a storm, the citizen who saves a drowning dog or the fireman who risks his/her life to rescue a child from a burning house. As you light the bright holiday lights this season, remember, miracles are everywhere for you to create and receive if you have the courage to live from your heart. Faith and Miracles
By Jan Engels Smith
People who have power-spiritual power-are people who have learned how to work with energy. Working with energy requires an understanding of both scientific laws and universal laws. Scientific laws change as science progresses. There were once laws that supported the beliefs that the earth was flat, was the center of the universe, and that light only travels in a straight line. These laws held true until science advanced to discover other possibilities, at which time new scientific laws emerged. In other words, scientific "proof" supports a set of beliefs until a new scientific model redefines reality. Many scientific truths have passed into myth. Bear in mind that "myth" only exists from the vantage of hindsight; it was "truth" in the context of the time that spawned it.
If history is an accurate predictor of our future, then we must assume that the current scientific "truths" will eventually become myth as new "truths" emerge. How confident of our scientific truths can or should we be? The American dramatist Arthur Miller observed, "An era can be said to be at an end when its basic illusions are exhausted." Our mental models of reality may never be more than "illusions" that we, as a culture, have commonly agreed upon. The models have the feel of truth because they are widely shared. They create our current paradigm.
A paradigm is a constellation of concepts, values, perceptions, and practices shared by a community. That constellation forms the basis for how a community defines and organizes itself. Scientific paradigms, widely accepted by "advanced" societies, have become the basis of defining reality for our world community. "Primitive" societies that may not share our scientific worldviews are often targets of programs intended to "convert" them to our "higher" truths. At times, however, we have discovered that the primitive paradigms were, in fact, accurate. A good example is recent medical discoveries that validate the potency of traditional medicines and the role of mind-body-spirit connection in the healing process. Once considered to be of the realm of "witch doctors," these are now receiving serious attention from the scientific community.
Our beliefs-even our scientific knowledge-color our observations and perceptions. We look for evidence to corroborate what we know; we find the evidence because that is what we are predisposed to see. Consequently, we continually reinforce as true that which we already know. This is done at a subconscious level, but it is how the paradigms govern our lives. Breaking out of these paradigms is difficult, and it takes strong character to go against such compelling and accepted societal norms. History is full of accounts of people being persecuted and, in some instances, killed because they supported new discoveries in science. Hindsight being 20/20, two hundred years later it is easy to say, "How could they have believed something so ridiculous?" What will be said of our beliefs two centuries from now?
In truth, all things are possible and people are limited only by their own imaginations! That is exactly why the spirits are forever asking us to broaden our perspectives.
Our belief systems affect our manifestations, including healings or what are commonly referred to as miracles. According to the information from my spirit teachers, there is no hierarchy of miracles. It is no more difficult to heal cancer than it is to soothe a stubbed toe. The possibility of healing, or the lack thereof, lies in the belief system of the wounded or the healer/practitioner. Healings and miracles deal with energy and the amount of faith or trust contributing to the process.
Faith is built by the strength of one's belief systems. The more you believe something to be true, the more faith you have in the processes associated with it. The more faith you have in the process, the more energy the process will receive. The more energy received, the more fuel to create the desired outcome. As you manifest more and more in your life, your trust level will escalate. As your trust escalates, it feeds energy to your faith and your belief system and thus increases your ability to heal or to perform miracles.

Heal Your Life Or Cure it - The Difference Between Healing and Curing
By Wil Langford
We often hear of prayers for successful healing and other stories of people who have had miraculous cures. Recently I learned a friend who'd had tumors in several places throughout his body had learned that the tumors were gone completely. His doctors were stunned and couldn't explain it.
While that was very good news, it also may have demonstrated the power of healing prayers. My friend had asked our group to pray for his healing and we did. But of course, we can never be sure how much our prayers contributed to the disappearance of the tumors and how much his own wonderful attitude and philosophy of life and health was responsible for the miracle.
While we prayed, treated, meditated, for healing, what we really wanted was a cure. There is a very big difference between curing and healing, although the lines between them often are blurred. When I pray and meditate for a loved one who has a problem, whether physical, emotional, spiritual, or otherwise, I start by asking for healing.
To me, healing means reaching a point of wholeness and peace, no matter what the physical condition or situation may be. I believe it is possible to have a terminal illness, but to be healed though the illness eventually takes the life. On the other hand, to be cured means that the illness goes away or is "fixed."
Sometimes a person who survives something as serious as cancer, then needs time to heal, even though he or she may have been cured, like my friend was cured of his tumors. Healing will mean taking time to think about what happened and to reach conclusions about life and death and to consider the lessons learned by the experience. While a cure may be found in a short period of time, healing can take a longer time but lead to a better quality of life.
Healing is closure, but does not mean that the lessons learned are over or that more cannot be learned. Healing leads to personal and spiritual growth. Curing means that we get to live longer and to work on healing. I sometimes think that we spend a lifetime healing.
While curing comes from an outside source, such as a wonder drug, healing always comes from the same source, from within. When a loved one is sick or dying, first we want a cure, so that we do not lose that one, but ultimately, we realize that death is inevitable and what we really all need in the end, is healing. From a place of wholeness we can face all of life's challenges.
